In Art this year, all classes are learning the elements of art.  The elements are the foundation of all art and include line, shape, color, form, space and texture.  In the first 6 weeks, we are focused on line.  Line can be thick, thin, straight, zig-zag, wavy, loopy,and curvy to name a few. 

In each grade level, there are different inspirations.  For example, the painting you see here is Gerald Murphy's "Watch" painting that you can see for yourself at the Dallas Museum of Art.  The lines in this painting are mostly circular and the 5th graders are learning to use a compass to draw in this same style.
